...at about 8 to 10 feet (Varies with
machine and passenger weight.) we need to perform
a maneuver called the flare. A flare is performed by pushing both steering
bars forward which will reduce our ground speed and make for a gentle
landing. To do a proper flare requires instruction and practice.
Today our instructor will do the flaring. Once the machine is down the
throttle is reduced to idle and the engine is shut down. You will notice the
instructor grabbing two of the lines and crossing his chest with them. |
